How to change your cellphone's keyboard layout to German QWERTZ on Windows Mobile 6.1
Wow, what a headline... Anyway, I've upgraded my HTC S730 / Wings yesterday from Windows Mobile 6 to 6.1 and noticed the keyboard layout was set to QWERTY with no natural support for Umlauts :( So I did some research and found a way to solve this problem.
How to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 on HTC s730 / Wings
I've created a little package which includes all the files needed for installing Windows Mobile 6.1 on your HTC S730 / Wings cellphone. Kudos to Alcaline over at xda developers who have cooked this wonderful rom.
REMEMBER: BACKUP YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU PROCEED CAUSE THEY WILL BE GONE AFTER THE UPDATE. USE AT OWN RISK!
Now let's have some fun:
First of all you need to install something on your cell called 'HardSPL'. This will allow us to install our flash rom.
Start the 'SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe' file located in the unzipped HardSPL folder to unlock your cellphone.
Create a SPL backup by running 'spl-backup.bat' from SPL-backup-kit folder.
Copy 'sspl-0.91-wings.exe' to your cellphone and run it from there. Your cell will reboot and you get the 'dev mode color screen'. After some time USB will appear on the screen.
To make sure everything will work fine, unplug and replug the usb cable. Your PC might want to install the cellphone and if it asks for some driver, use the 'htcrt_devices.ini' file.
Now it is time to flash the 'hardspl-0.91-wings.nbh' by running 'CustomRUU.exe' from flash-hardspl-wings folder.
Cross fingers ;)
OK, if this worked we are now able to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 :)
Run the before mentioned 'sspl-0.91-wings.exe' on your cell. Your mobile will once again reboot and you get the 'dev mode color screen' you already know. After some time USB will appear on the screen.
Now start 'ROMUpdateUtility.exe' which is located in the RUU_Wings_HTC_WWE_Alcaline_61 folder.
If everything goes well, your cellphone reboots and you have done it! Congrats ^^
PS: MAYBE your phone behaves a bit strange after the first start mine did so. Simply reboot again and everything is normal.
Wohoo, I finally did it. I've managed to install Windows Mobile 6.1 on my HTC s730 (or Wings how it is called in other countries). I don't wanna know how many nerves that costed me in the last few attempts but I really have to say: The phone feels totally different now. Maybe it is just a placebo effect but all the menus really feel a lot smoother now. Stay tuned for nice pictures and tutorials^^
The following link provide more than just big help:
While checking the usual IT news websites I found out that Microsoft Live Labs finally released their incredible Photosynth web application. On photosynth.com you can download the needed browser plugin after you logged in with your live-ID but believe me it is worth it. Here's a little test: Castle in Hesse
Once upon a time there were two guys who liked to take pictures. They spent a little fortune for their equipment but they took their photos just for fun and with no commercial intention simply because they loved what they were doing. Someday these two guys made a weekend trip to the little village of Butzbach, a tiny settlement of 25000 inhabitants in Hesse. Every single citizen still remembers the famous “Hesse day” that was held there back in 2007 and tries the best to teach that to every not-knowing being. Beside that Butzbach had a really charming historic section of town and the Hesse people were very kind and friendly. Later one of the friendly Hesse told them there would be a concert of a semi-famous musician called Jenniffer Kae and a band called Rednex but of course there was a catch. The two photographers were told: “You have to buy a whole beer crate to get one ticket, there is NO other option.” Well, the guys were German and because Germans always like drinking beer in every possible occasion they bought a beer crate for each ticket. Hence they did some math: 5 beer cases in sum, makes 5 tickets and 120 bottles of beer... Thank god they loved the brand of beer soooo much…
Later at the little festival the two knights were told “Oh you don’t need to buy so many the beer crates. The concert is for free”… Shocked after these news they remembered why they had come here. Of course they wanted to take photos and equipped with some of the finest camera stuff their weapon smith Canon could provide, they sneaked into the audience and got on their positions to have the best perspective during the concert. When the show started they were ready to rock but after some minutes they were surrounded by security guys who told them to stop taking pictures though everybody else was taking some too… The problem was: other fans in the audience did “high quality” shots with their cellphone cam. But this wasn’t all. The Butzbach “press” took photos too but the reporters cam looked like the cam the photographer’s grandma used… 10 years ago… In a heroic fight the two guys tried their best to get rid of the security but they had no other chance than to retreat and to cry.
And if you listen carefully during silent nights you can still hear them weeping… ;)
Too bad they didn't release a soundtrack for Adam Sandler's 'Don't mess with the Zohan' (this time a real funny movie) but at least I can provide a tracklist of all 39 appearing songs which I found at reelsoundtrack.com this weekend.

Germany got 5th place in Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
Congrats Germany. A way better result at the summer Olympics than 4 and 8 years before. Of course China wasn't beatable this time. Anyway: There are no 1.3 billion people living in Germany so compared with the 82 million Germans the result of a 5th place isn't bad. In the end it is funny how countries like the USA (who suddenly count the total numbers of medals to win the first place) are changing the statistics...
Another interesting table was created by the blog abgeschmackt.blogspot.com cause they created the 'only true and fair population adjusted medal table'.

So, choose your medal table (Medailienspiegel or 奖牌榜 of favour ;-)
And last but not least here comes a stereotype joke...
The United Nations initiated a poll with the order "Please tell us your honest opinion about the lack of food in the rest of the world." The poll was a total failure. The Russians did not understand "Please". The Italians did not know the word "honest". The Chinese did not know what an "opinion" was. The Europeans did not know "lack", while the Africans did not know "food". Finally, the Americans didn't know anything about the "rest of the world".
During the last weekend I rearranged the pictures I took in Norderney and in China. The Norderney collection contains now 82 pictures and the China collection includes now all 731 (!) pics. Unfortunately now I noticed that I would take many of the China photos in a different way than I took them almost a year ago...
Finally arrived back home... I think it is time now to take a loooong nap ;-) Maybe I post some pictures tomorrow but right now I can hardly stop my eyes from shutting down... Good Night ^^
Fuck, fuck, fuck. The day before yesterday I did a "little"walk to a wreck at the eastern end of the island of Norderney. Many warned me it would take too long to go on foot but of course the incredible stupid Koteshi didn't listen and walked the 15,48 km to the wreck and another 15,48 km back... I don't have to say my knees and feet hurt like hell right now, but at least I can go to the spa area of my hotel, relax there, enjoy the pictures I took in the last few days and feel proud about what I have achieved so far. Oh yeah, somebody really isn't modest today ;) Oh I also uploaded some new pictures here.
The last few days were quite nice here. The weather is sometimes acting crazy (rainy, stormy, sunny and sunny, stormy, rainy). Beside the usual stress I think I feel better than back home. Of course I use any occasion possiblle to take some pictures, so here are some impressions.
CRAZY: still working and yes tomorrow I am on a trip
Today 7 AM I will start my trip to the Northsea. I am quite curious if everything will work out as expected (3G wireless internet access, GPS tools) and if I have some free time I will take some pictures at the beach and upload some of them showing typical northern German scenery ;) OK that's one hand of the story. While already lying in bed i remembered I forgot to finish a task for work... Dammit...
Do you want to get into Home? Do you wish Sony would allow you to show how interested you are in being a part of the expanded Beta? All you have to do is download the new Home theme that will be available in the store today. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? I’m so excited!
Sony is using a variety of factors to determine who will be in the expanded Beta. PSN usage and other things will be a part of this evaluation. Of course the detailed process of evaluation was not explained. So Home enthusiasts, PSN lovers, and Playstation users should get that theme today.
Here is the official post from Jack Buser:
Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community. We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.
We’re really excited about this milestone and want our most loyal fans to be a part of the evolution of PlayStation Home.
In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.
Today on 08/08/08 the Olympic 2008 games in Beijing will start with a big festival. So take a look how China and its supporters prepare for Olympia here on this Adidas commercial:
Good luck China. And remember folks: chinese government ≠ the chinese people

Last week I watched 'Harold and Kumar' cause I really liked the first movie. Anyway this movie was unfortunately kinda lame but had a nice poem scene. I admit it sounds very nerd-like but maybe this is the smartest poem I have heard so far.
I’m sure that I will always be A lonely number like root three
The three is all that’s good and right, Why must my three keep out of sight Beneath the vicious square root sign, I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick, with just some quick arithmetic
I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321 Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When hark! What is this I see, Another square root of a three
As quietly co-waltzing by, Together now we multiply To form a number we prefer, Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds With the wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued Your love for me has been renewed
