Germany got 5th place in Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Congrats Germany. A way better result at the summer Olympics than 4 and 8 years before. Of course China wasn't beatable this time. Anyway: There are no 1.3 billion people living in Germany so compared with the 82 million Germans the result of a 5th place isn't bad.
In the end it is funny how countries like the USA (who suddenly count the total numbers of medals to win the first place) are changing the statistics...

Another interesting table was created by the blog abgeschmackt.blogspot.com cause they created the 'only true and fair population adjusted medal table'.

very inspiring! I found this little interactive chart widget which shows medals by population or medals by GDP in a nice way: http://www.youcalc.com/apps/1219242654520
