What a premiere. Just got the info that I passed my first exam at the university. Unfortunately I also got the info that I didn't pass another exam...
Damn it... 7 exams: and only 3 results so far. On 2 I pass and 1 ruined my day...

If all the exam go as planned, the GDUFS (Guangdong University for Foreign Studies) will be my new home next year. Until then I have to focus on my time here ;)
Wow, just 1,5 year left...
But right now I feel so wasted and there are still two exams ahead this semester. Seems like I am getting old already. But nice times are about to come. Looking already forward for the Secret of Mana sessions with Patrick. Hmm, almost seems like this is driving me forward in these days of stress.

First 100 days at the university are over

Well, how have these first 100 days been?
Simply amazing. Right now I think going to university was one of the, if not THE best decision I have done in my life so far. I have met people from other countries and different cultural background. I learnt new things and on the bad side I started smoking again... :-(
I had to break up the Chinese lessons cause they collided with some other important subjects and I started learning Dutch.
But to make one thing clear I love this new life. Eventhough some things really came to short in the past months. For instance the photo shootings with Patti... Anyway next year things should come straight again with less parties/cigarettes/beers/sleepless nights and more studying (yeah, right...) plus passing all the exams hopefully.

Spanish status report

Spanish is so far really good at the university but I dislike the idea having the course only every 14 days cause it collides with my accounting course... This sucks... :(

One professor... :-S

At my university there is a professor who hasn't been there since the start of the semester. She really seems to be ill and I mean seriously ill.
OK, nothing wrong with a professor being ill from time to time. But what if this professor holds one of the most important subjects? Don't forget you have to write an exam about all that at the end of the semester... Well we already missed 40% of the lectures. Let's hope she'll be fine soon and I will pass the exam without any complications.

Climbing

Two weeks ago some classmates and I were doing some indoor climbing at the Neoliet Climbing Hall located in Bochum. I really have to admit I didn't expect it to be so much fun and also so painful ;)
Fortunately a friend secured me very well during climbing which is not that easy cause I am such a fat bastard.
So what's the bottom line? For me, I decided to go more often climbing because it helps to clear your mind and it seems like the perfect way to do some sports even in the cold winter days.

'Vive la France' or 'Viva España'? :-(

These days I have to face a hard decision: Shall I take French or Spanish or maybe even Dutch as my second foreign language beside English on the University? :(

Dutch doesn't sound like a very important language in the world of business and I might agree with that, but it is kinda easy to learn for Germans like me and one language more won't harm anybody. What you can't see in the chart above is that Spanish is about to become more and more important with French declining.

The cornell method or "how to be a super nerd" ;)

First of all: No offense Markus, but you showed me the cornell note-taking method first.
This is a special way to write down all essential notes during a lesson in university. It really seems like there was someone who created a concept on how to use the paper space best.

Wow, not bad. Only a few days since I've started 'International Business' at the University in Dortmund and our course had the first photoshooting. Well, looking forward to see the pictures on the website. An yeah sometimes even me becomes a cam whore ;)

China University Ranking 2008

Maybe some of you have thought about studying abroad and maybe your destination of choice is not Australia, USA or another typical western country but China. In case you are interested into studying in China, I found a ranking list from this year's January by the 21st Century Business Herald. Of course it is not THE indicator but maybe it helps a bit with your decision.
