your english is under all pig ;-) or 2007 part 1

During the last days, Christmas is always a time where I think about this and that, I noticed something: We often use try to translate German idioms into other languages or we simply prefer the foreign one over the German.
That's why I was reminded on a funny thing. When I was still in high school my teacher made a comment at the end of all exams: "too unidiomatically".
Back then I didn't understand its meaning but I was to shy to ask about it. Nowadays I think many people need an advice with their English: "Why try harder?"
Sure brilliant English with an Oxford accent sounds nifty, but isn't the main goal to be understood by the other person rather than talking some BS without any meaning?
I know for sure my english isn't that well (maybe you notice the headline of my blog) but I still hope most readers get the point ;-)
Anyway, last days have been really nice. The spirit of christmas is all aroud and the christmas fairs in Munster and Dortmund are as nice as they have never been before to me.
But maybe I am just different this season...
It was a hard and exciting year for me, my family and the other people around with many ups and not too less lows. This year's beginning had some big disappointments for me but also new chances.
Right now I am just happy about the new opportunities. Let's see what the future brings ^^
