your english is under all pig ;-) or 2007 part 1

During the last days, Christmas is always a time where I think about this and that, I noticed something: We often use try to translate German idioms into other languages or we simply prefer the foreign one over the German.
That's why I was reminded on a funny thing. When I was still in high school my teacher made a comment at the end of all exams: "too unidiomatically".
Back then I didn't understand its meaning but I was to shy to ask about it. Nowadays I think many people need an advice with their English: "Why try harder?"
Sure brilliant English with an Oxford accent sounds nifty, but isn't the main goal to be understood by the other person rather than talking some BS without any meaning?
I know for sure my english isn't that well (maybe you notice the headline of my blog) but I still hope most readers get the point ;-)
Anyway, last days have been really nice. The spirit of christmas is all aroud and the christmas fairs in Munster and Dortmund are as nice as they have never been before to me.
But maybe I am just different this season...
It was a hard and exciting year for me, my family and the other people around with many ups and not too less lows. This year's beginning had some big disappointments for me but also new chances.
Right now I am just happy about the new opportunities. Let's see what the future brings ^^

Volunteer at Olympia 2008

Since the beginning of this week, you can apply as a volunteer for the Olympic games in China 2008.
As everybody knows the sailing competitions aren't held in Beijing like the rest of Olympia 2008 but in Qingdao. So if you have some spare time and luck you can be part of this festival next year.
BTW: Within 2 days already 200000 people applied... Anyway, good luck ^^

Happy 2nd advent day

Today is the 2nd of the four advent sundays before Christmas. Usually this is when we spend some moments with our families and the people we like. As for me unfortunately I am busy studying all kinds of stupid subjects because of approaching exams... In sum I have to face 8 exams within the next time and I am really sick of all this studying here.
Sometimes I just wanna vomit and quit. But as always, in the end all this hard work will repay ^^

BTW: Thanks to all the supporters out there. You guys rock.
And for all the people who try to disturb: well you guys know you already lost and there's nothing that can change this fact.

Anyway: Have a great pre Christmas time :)

Happy St. Nicholas day

Today is the day that always made it hard for me to fall asleep when I was younger (about 1-2 years ago ;-) ).
We cleaned our boots back then in the evening of 5th Dezember and on 6th Dezember we had some candy in there. Yeah, these were the times...
But enough dreaming with old memories. Happy St. Nicholas day, schönen Nikolaustag oder
孩子的节日
